Gay San Antonio is a surprisingly lively neighborhood, with a diverse mix of cultures and people, as well as notable historical attractions and avant-garde dining. It is also close to the River Walk, which is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. This area is home to many of the city’s gay bars and clubs. The most popular is probably the King William Historic District. There are several neighborhoods in San Antonio that are popular with the gay community. The city’s large military presence makes it one of the more tolerant places in Texas for gays. Since the repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy in 2011, San Antonio has become a more desirable place for gay people to live.
